what is tumblecloud?
tumblecloud is a whole new way to make digital stories together.
We call it collaborative digital storytelling. All that digital stuff you have. All that digital stuff everybody else has. Photos. Videos. Music. You name it. Mix it all up together and then re-arrange it any way you like. Just by dragging and dropping, Tumblecloud makes it easy for you to tell stories your way, whether by yourself, or with a whole bunch of other people.
See what happens when you get together on tumblecloud with people that matter to you. See what happens when you make stories together.
what can you do here?
capture your special day
Zane and Erin put their wedding photos on tumblecloud and invited the other guests to add stuff, too. Imagine their surprise when they also got photo and video wishes from friends who weren’t able to be there. Everyone got to be a part of their wedding story, no matter where they were that day.
market your small business
Pema is a writer and consultant who helps people discover the story behind their brand. Here she uses a mix of video, photos and recipes on tumblecloud to give a chef a multimedia marketing piece for her new cookbook.
give your digital stuff a home
Cris likes to make travel journals of her favorite places around the world. She adds notes, photos, video and audio recordings to her stacks on tumblecloud while she’s on the go. Her friends watch right along with her as her travel stories unfold.
work with clients
Dawn uses tumblecloud to give landscaping solutions to their remote clients. She grabs sample photos from her tumblecloud library and shares them with one click. Each client gets their own stack, so there’s always an easy place to reference as the project moves forward.
collaborate on a project
Jessie and Gabriel are at opposite ends of the United States. She’s a photographer taking pictures of Occupy Wall Street. He’s a musician writing songs of transformation. They collaborate on tumblecloud, blending their work seamlessly to make rich, moving portraits of our time.
make something global
As a storyteller and a collaborative artist, Jessica is using tumblecloud to share her distinctive painting and words with a global audience from her home base in Prague. Even better, she's making her own stacks available for her followers to make their own beautiful stories.

meet the team
It's a pretty interesting group. Artists. Scientists. Musicians. Triathletes. Gamers. Snowboarders. Mathematicians. People who are really good at what they do. Who like to make things. Who aim for beauty and strength and elegance. Who appreciate the world and the amazing things we can do together. But that kind of makes sense, doesn't it?
Brian Andreas, Founder and CEO/CCO
Brian is best known as the entrepreneur and artist behind StoryPeople, where he's been helping people tell their stories for a very long time. He's the creative architect of tumblecloud. With over 25 years of experience in the arts and sciences, and side trips out into systems design, creative management, technology, brand creation and visionary leadership, (and yeah, he's got a few degrees, too, if that's something you take seriously) it's easy to see how he weaves together the whole of what we do. Also, it doesn't hurt that he's a two-time Pulitzer nominated bestselling author of 9 books, translated into six languages, and an internationally recognized artist, with a whole bunch of artist and musician friends worldwide who've been happy to play along with us.
Farrol Mertes, Director of Artist Relations & Operations
Farrol adds her own rich weave of academia, activism and art to the team. She's spent the past 20 years in arts management and community building, roaming the landscape of the institutional art world (like the Dia Art Foundation, and The San Francisco Craft and Folk Art Museum) as well as being an independent gallery owner and a private consultant to many Bay Area artists. Trained at Brooks Institute of Photography, she's also currently the company photographer for the “Chekhov at Lake Lucille Project” theater group, out of NYC (which is mainly an excuse to get to NYC and see great theatre). She's excited to keep doing on tumblecloud what she does best in real life: bringing people and art together for collaboration and self-expression.
Eron Howard, VP Software Development
Eron has over 10 years of experience in leading software development innovation. As Vice President of Development for our front-end development partner, he has built robust development teams that provide agile development of everything from Enterprise IT software to social and mobile applications. He is a graduate of the University of California Santa Barbara College of Engineering, and holds a BS in Computer science. (The real thing you should know about Eron is that he hand-picked everyone on the amazing tumblecloud development team. We think he did a pretty good job!)
Renato Untalan, Lead Developer
Renato is an expert in the development of full applications in the browser, with technologies such as JQuery, CSS, HTML5, Flash/Flex. He graduated University of California, Santa Barbara College of Engineering, with a BS in Computer science. He's also an accomplished musician who brings a very gracious and quiet sense of rhythm and flow to the team. He is the one who ensures that collaboration is baked into the very DNA of our code.
Zane Jacobson, Lead UI/UX Designer
Zane has been a passionate user interface and user experience designer for the past decade. He studied human factors engineering at Oregon State University before entering the software industry. He's designed user interfaces for Enterprise IT applications, business, social, and mobile applications. He is an avid student of human-computer interaction science as well as intuitive and efficient visual communication (besides that, he's got a wicked sense of humor which peeks out now and then as you're rambling through tumblecloud. We're glad to have him on our side.)
Cris Hamilton, Creative Advisor/Lead Animator
Cris has over 25 years of experience as a creative director in advertising, event planning and freelance animation. Her talents as a scriptwriter and character designer are evident in her award-winning short animations. She also brings her connections and technical expertise in the global animation and motion graphics industry to the professional content libraries of tumblecloud. (She’s also the animator behind the totally fun character in our tutorials. We think that says a whole lot about how much play she brings to the team!)
Amber Adrian, Instigator and Catalyst, Social Media
Amber Adrian is the writer and bright mind behind the engaging conversations on our blog, twitter and facebook. She graduated from one of those fancy schools that seem to breed ennui and internet startups in equal measure, so for the past twelve years, she's been writing essays, web copy, love letters, and the occasional haiku. We think that's what makes her a perfect tumblecloud spokesmodel. Her main goal in life is to be a passion funnel, distilling love into the written word. (Like we said, perfect.)
Eve Blossom, Strategic Advisor
Eve brings her wealth of experience in building connections and communities to our team. She's a passionate social activist and entrepreneur, creating economic options and empowering artisans at a grassroots level in partnership with her company, Lulan Artisans, for the past decade. As an Aspen Fellow, TED speaker and trained architect, she also speaks regularly worldwide on social entrepreneurship, integrated design and innovative business models. Her recent book, Material Change: Design Thinking and the Social Entrepreneurship Movement, has become a blueprint for grassroots social entrepreneurship. When it comes to activism and public collaboration, she knows how we can help, so we're glad to have her insight and perspective on what we do.
